Bridge – a card team game for four players (two against two). The most common in Britain and several other European countries. Came from the ancient Russian game "Herald", common among the Russian messengers, in which they played at inns in Europe. However, the direct ancestor of the modern bridge was whist – doubles in bribes, in which Trump was determined by hand.

At the same table are two pairs of players, a pair of players sitting opposite each other. Traditionally, players are called on the cardinal points: North (N), East (E), South (S) and West (W). A pair of North-South (NS) plays against a pair of East-West (EW). Each distribution consists of two phases – Trade and raffle. Applications to trade and play cards produced players turn in a clockwise direction.
